My friend Laila Jenkins-Perez posted about this recently-Laila, I didn’t even know! A movie that I was one of the lead actors on, called Drylongso, that we filmed a loooooong time ago (shot in 1995, partially released in 1998) is having a resurgence now, in 2023. It got a glowing review in the New York Times, and has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes-what? They’re calling it a “lost treasure” and a film that captures the authenticity of Oakland in the 1990s. A must see! I hope they start streaming it, I think now it’s only in select indie houses? Much respect to filmmaker Cauleen Smith and co-writer Salim Akil.
